Orchard Road, The Place To Shop And Have Some Entertainment
Orchard Road is situated in Singapore. It is a road and is a center for retailers and also for entertainment. A lot of tourists visit the Orchard Road. The road got its name from the fruit orchards (but also included pepper and nutmeg) that were there in the 1800s on each side of the road. The area that was once in place of Orchard Road contained plantations of pepper and gambier, later nutmeg was grown and finally fruit orchards were grown.
The initial retail outlet to be located along Orchard Road was TANGS, which was opened during the 1950s. Orchard Road also has cafes, coffee shops, and restaurants in addition to numerous shopping malls. The official residence, the Istana, of the President of Singapore is also situated along Orchard Road.
The shopping malls that are situated along Orchard Road include, Scotts Shopping Centre, Liat Towers, Palais Renaissance, Hilton Singapore, Orchard Point, Mandarin Gallery, Shaw House and Centre, Forum The Shopping Mall, The Centrepoint, Tang Plaza, The Heeren Shops, Paragon, Wheelock Place, Far East Plaza, Lucky Plaza, Plaza Singapura, Wisma Atria and Ngee Ann City.
New malls are also planned to be built in the Orchard Road area, some of these malls include the Orchard Central, Ion Orchard, 313@Somerset and the Mandarin Gallery.
While traveling to Singapore and exploring the Orchard Road area, one would need to consider one's Singapore accommodation. Trying for some Singapore hotel accommodation would be a rather good idea. A Singapore hotel would provide one with the best accommodation in the area.
